Goals are extremely important and are the key to any success plan. However, we hear about goals so much that we often take this step for granted. We assume that we already know everything there is to know about setting goals and thus usually skip over this extremely important fundamental success factor. Please don’t let yourself get into this trap. As Tony Robbins states in his Personal Power tape on the Power of Setting Goals “Fundamentals have to be practiced daily!”

In this article, we are going to work on your goals.

Remember my previous article? “Why start a Home business” - http://www.source-locator.com/newsletter1.htm? In that article I talked about creating your “Why”.

In this article I am going to talk about setting goals to help keep you focused so that you will have a clear cut plan set to help you ultimately achieve the reason why you started a home business.

I believe that the Tony Robbins goal workshop method is one of the best goal setting methods out there so I am going to use his method in this article to help you create your goals and help motivate you to take immediate action.

It’s extremely important to follow the steps in this mini workshop if you are going to get anything out of it.

As Tony states, there should be 3 areas for which you should set goals. These areas are:

* Financial goals - (Money)

* Thing goals - (Things you want to have)

* Personal Development goals - (Things about yourself you want to improve on)

Write out your goals

1. Sit down right now and write down the things that you want to have 1, 3, 5, and 10 years from now. Do it now! Don’t read on until you are finished.

2. Ok, now I want you to write down your financial goals for the next 1, 3, 5, and 10 years. Do it now. Don’t read on until you are finished.

3. Ok, now I want you to write down your personal development goals for the next 1, 3, 5, and 10 years. Do it now. Don’t read on until you are finished.

4. Read over your list and pick your top two goals that you want to accomplish in the next year, from each category, and write a paragraph about why you are committed to achieving these goals now.

Take your time… really think about it. Don’t rush… Don’t move on until you are done.

Ok… Are you done? If not finish up before you read on. You are only hurting yourself if you don’t take the time to do this.

If you are done, I want you to do something now to take action to start achieving the goals that you picked out in number 4 and wrote a paragraph about. Take action now! I am sure you can think of something that you can do right now. Don’t put it off until tomorrow. Take action now! Come on right now! Do something to acheive that goal now! It doesn’t have to be a huge step, just do something now so that you start to build momentum.

After you have done something to take action towards achieving your goal then read on…

Make your goals visible

It’s extremely important to make sure that your goals are always visible. If your goals are visible then they are a constant reminder for you to take action every day towards achieving those goals. Put those paragraphs that you wrote in number 4 where you will always see them. Cut out pictures of your thing goals and hang them around the house. Order a brochure for that car you always wanted but could never afford. Do whatever it takes to make your goals visible.

I hope that you took this workshop seriously and wrote out your goals and why you are committed to achieving them. I also hope that you now understand that goals are the forgotten and overlooked success element that everyone needs in order to ultimately achieve their “Why”.

Recent studies have shown that industrial supervisors are working at less than 60 % of their potential. Basic management skills training is guaranteed to change all this and at such little cost

Introduction

The word discipline has a negative sound as we immediately think of authority and punishment. However, there is another more constructive way to think about this, which we can call - POSITIVE DISCIPLINE.

Positive discipline is all about creating an orderly environment where people can conduct themselves to agreed standards of behavior to the benefit of everyone. In this way we avoid unnecessary conflict and potential accidents.

Most family groups establish an atmosphere of Positive Discipline, which protects individual’s rights but also develops harmony in the family. Positive Discipline is also an excellent learning medium for our children, which allows them to develop in a safe environment.

NEGATIVE DISCIPLINE is conflictive by nature and is damaging to group harmony. A potential negative discipline situation occurs when rules are disobeyed or when they are clearly accepted reluctantly.

Discipline line

The first step is to establish and maintain a reasonable, but firm discipline line.

TOO HIGH - People are insulted. Productivity drops.

TOO LOW - People take liberties. Productivity drops.

This line must be a well-defined set of behavior standards that you expect all employees to abide by and support. It is also important to ensure that these standards, rules or regulations are well-communicated and everyone is fully aware of them. This will tell an employee what is expected and what is not permitted.
It is essential to set a discipline line that is achievable and effective in the real world. The key success factors are:

Consistent

Well communicated

Reasonable and justifiable

Flexible

Immediacy

There are many aspects to positive discipline and the following is an interesting one.

The “Hot Stove Rule”

However well you handle discipline it remains an unpleasant task that often causes resentment. The challenge to the supervisor is to apply the necessary disciplinary action so that it minimizes damage to individuals and to the manager himself.

A really effective way to incorporate all the rules that are described above is to adopt the hot stove rule. When you touch a hot stove, the reaction is immediate, with warning, consistent, and impersonal.
For example:

The burn is immediate; there is no doubt about the cause and effect

There was advance communication, since everyone knows what happens if you touch a stove when it’s red hot

The result is consistent; whoever touches a hot stove will always get burned

The result is impersonal because whoever touches a hot stove is burned. The burn was caused by the act of touching the stove, not because of who the person is. Discipline should be directed against the act and not against the person.

The comparison between the “hot stove rule” and disciplinary action is obvious.

Gaming laptops were once only for the rich and not for the average people. Though they did not shift a big deal they still produced the most in comparison to other styles of laptop computer. Surely I would positively say everyone desired one though. Basically they were the best laptop computers in the world. Having said that the large number of us most likely did not buy laptop computers of this kind because of the price. Greater established manufacturers have recently introduced their own gaming laptops so its all changing as I write this.

These are definitely big margin laptop computers for the large manufacturers and they are aware of it. These manufacturers have probably been losing some money on lower end units so this should be a welcomed opportunity. Manufacturers of that magnitude know they can get consumers to buy laptop computers at overblown prices providing they market it well. What could little companies possibly do if they are squeezed out of the sector? I express this due to the fact that the technology which was once premium and overpriced is now mass market. I believe purchasing from an established brand additionally provides the perception of increased value.

The notebook computers coming out are demonstrating to be the best laptop computers ever released. This is no doubt the core competitive edge that remains for the littler players. This is a large sales proposition that must be mentioned. Prospects of this sort are generally highly educated concerning the technology involved, and hence can make like for like comparisons. For these types of prospects, the speed of a laptop sometimes matter more than the physical design of it. For the consumer, this has plenty of advantages. Advanced technology will be increasingly acquirable in the future for the majority of people because it will act to force costs down even more. I say that a bit hesitatingly though because the notebooks business is an extremely fast paced place. Premium prices will remain and be normal with the newest laptop computers is what I am guessing. We will discover what we can look forward to from the gaming laptop sectors giant brands.

This place (http://www.rizeon.com/gaming_laptops/page.php) is providing some excellent gaming systems at very cheap prices.

If you own a printer then you are already familiar with the high costs of inkjet cartridges. These cartridges are, of course, essential for printing, but they don’t have to break your bank. Yet, in the search for inkjet cartridges, you may be left wondering where you can buy inexpensive ones. Let’s take a look at some of your shopping options.

First, you can purchase inkjet cartridges from your local department store. If your department store is having a sale, or if you have a coupon and your department store accepts coupons, you may want to purchase a few inkjet cartridges and stock up on them while the price is relatively low.

Alternatively, you can purchase inkjet cartridges at office supply stores. Nevertheless, be sure to compare the prices offered at office supply stores with that of prices in nearby department stores. Sometimes you will find that the cost of cartridges is cheaper at office supply stores and sometimes you will find the less expensive inkjet cartridges at department stores within the area. It always pays to shop around.

On the other hand, you may want to shop for inkjet cartridges on the Internet if you have access to the web. Shopping for cartridges on the Internet provides you with the opportunity to check prices at a number of places and thereby find the most inexpensive inkjet cartridges available. Plus, when shopping from the Internet for, you will have the unique benefit of shopping from home.

Conversely, inkjet cartridges purchased off the Internet can give a good deal only if the entire deal is good - in other words, if you get your cartridges really cheap but you have to pay ridiculous shipping and handling charges, then you are really not getting a good deal at all. Also, when ordering inkjet cartridges remember that you will not have them. In fact, it can take a few weeks to receive your order and if you require your cartridges immediately to produce a project or paper, you may want to visit your local department store or office supply store instead.

Finally, when purchasing inkjet cartridges, if you purchase generic brands it is important to read the packaging before completing your purchase. Don’t purchase inkjet cartridges that look like they will work with your computer based on the picture on the front of the packaging. Rather, read the packaging to make sure that the generic cartridges you have selected will actually work with the printer you own. In doing so, you will successfully avoid the hassle associated with having to return the purchase to the dealer, whether they were bought from the store, or from an Internet distributor.

Scabies was something that I had never heard of until last year, and would have
lived my life very happily, had I not been forced to deal with this unwanted,
horrifying bug!

My daughter and I had been looking forward to a trip to San Diego for years. It was
really my daughter’s dream to go to the San Diego Zoo to visit the pandas and swim
with the dolphins at Sea World. That’s all she talked about. So when a special deal
came up on Expedia, we took it! We were going to stay at one of the absolutely best
hotels on the water in Coronado Beach for a great price and we were thrilled! The hotel was beautiful, with every amenity that you could imagine. We easily navigated
the bus system and did everything on that trip that you could wish for. It was the
perfect vacation… until we got home.

Well, actually a few weeks had gone by, when my daughter started itching. Her
arms were red and covered with tiny red bumps that formed lines. I put some
Bactine on her arms and figured we’d wait until the next day. During the night, I
woke up with the most intense itching I had ever felt. I thought it was sympathy
itching and tried my best to go back to sleep. Nothing worked. It became worse as
the night progressed and I woke up tired and cranky.

My son came into my room that morning with the same symptoms. I began to
worry. What on earth was going on here? Were we being invaded by fleas? I took
the day off from work and we all went to the doctor’s office, where I heard the most
horrifying news ever. It was scabies! What?? She calmly explained that scabies
were mites that burrowed under your skin and laid eggs! They reproduced quickly
and covered your whole body. A million questions went through my mind. How did
we get them? I’m a cleanliness freak and if I do say so myself, I keep as germ-free
an environment as I can. She asked if we had traveled in the past few weeks
because they are often passed in beds. They are sometimes called bedbugs. “Oh,
no,” I thought, “so much for the perfect vacation!”

“Not to worry,” she said. “This prescription will get rid of them in no time.” “But,”
she warned, “be sure to wash ALL the bedclothes and pillows every night, or they’ll
come back.” I freaked out! Bugs under my skin! No way could I cope! I didn’t
know which was worse…the itching or the thought of bugs eating me alive!

But as parents, we do cope. I dutifully went to the drugstore and filled the
prescriptions. We all covered our bodies that night from head to toe with this awful
stuff, which burned and smelled terribly. When I read the possible side effects which
ranged from nausea, vomiting, seizures to central nervous system damage, I had
serious reservations, but felt that I had no choice. We tried to sleep but none of us
could. The itching became unbearable and at night it intensified. My daughter had
nightmares that bugs were crawling over her. And the sad truth was that she was
right.

A few days went by, and still no relief. Besides the itching, there were other
complications. We couldn’t have visitors, because scabies is contagious. Each night
when I got home from work, I dutifully stripped the beds and brought everything,
including the towels we had used, to the laundry-mat. Imagine washing everything
on your bed, including mattress covers, pillows and comforters EVERY NIGHT! And
then, doing it again the next night, and the next night, and the next night. It was
costly, a lot of work, and not exactly my idea of a good time. I was feeling very sorry
for myself, and my poor kids. I certainly didn’t want to try another dose of that
medication.

I finally decided to do what I usually do and look for a natural cure. I’m into natural
cures for everything, and they had always worked in the past so maybe that would
be the answer this time too. Within minutes, I had researched the Internet for a
natural scabies cure. I found a product which was a blend of potent botanicals used
for decades to deal with scabies. It promised to give immediate relief and also to be
perfectly safe, all of which sounded great to me. I called the company and spoke to a representative, who told me not to worry. She promised relief in a couple of days
and promptly overnighted the product to us. She was absolutely right. The next
day, we felt a little better and after a few days, the red marks covering our bodies
diminished as the scabies bugs died off. Relief at last! Finally, after so much grief,
the scabies were gone.

My daughter and I laugh now when we look at the pictures of our trip. It will no
longer be remembered as our dream vacation to San Diego. Instead, it will be
forever etched in our minds as the time we got attacked by the Scabies!

Most teenagers probably don’t think that the consequences of a kiss can be a sore throat, swollen lymph glands, and fever. All are symptoms of infectious mononucleosiscommonly referred to as “the kissing disease.” The disease normally occurs in adolescents and young adults, and is common worldwide.

The Cause
Infectious mononucleosis is caused by the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). EBV is a member of the herpesvirus family of viruses and is one of the most common viruses among humans. By adulthood, most people have been infected with EBV. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), up to 95% of adults between the ages of 35 and 40 have been infected with EBV.

Transmission and Symptoms
EBV is transmitted by person-to-person contact via saliva. It may be transmitted from both healthy and sick individuals. The virus may be present for up to six weeks before causing symptoms. Therefore people are able to unknowingly spread the virus to others for weeks. Some healthy adults (carriers) may continuously transmit the virus to others.

When EBV infects children it usually does not cause symptoms, or the symptoms are very mild. However, when adolescents or young adults become infected, it can cause disease. The symptoms may be mild to severe. In addition to the symptoms mentioned above, there may be a loss of appetite, weakness, and nausea. In some cases, these symptoms may be accompanied by severe headache, muscle aches, chest pains, and difficulty breathing. If the infection becomes complicated, a swollen spleen or liver may also develop. There are also rare cases of problems with the heart and central nervous system.

EBV has also been shown to remain in the immune system in an inactive state (dormancy). Sometimes, the virus reactivates and can be found in the saliva. In these cases, carriers usually do not have symptoms. Dormant EBV has been associated with two forms of cancer: nasopharyngeal carcinoma and Burkitt’s lymphoma. These are very rare forms of cancer, and the causes are still unknown despite the association with dormant EBV.

Treatment
The symptoms of infectious mononucleosis usually disappear within 4 to 8 weeks. The fever and sore through usually resolve within the first two weeks. Swollen lymph nodes and spleen may persist for much longer. Weakness and fatigue may also persist for longer.

Sometimes steroids are prescribed to help with swollen lymph nodes and tonsil. Since the disease is caused by a virus, it is not treated with antibiotics. Pain relievers are also sometimes prescribed to help with pain and soreness.

Prevention
There is no vaccine for infectious mononucleosis. Also, it is almost impossible to prevent because it can be transmitted from healthy people and people that have not yet developed symptoms.

EBV is one of the most common human viruses. It may be transmitted from people that are sick or healthy. When EBV infects children, it usually does not cause disease, but often causes disease in adolescents and young adults. To date there is no vaccine for the disease. Although the symptoms of the disease are usually not severe and resolve over time, it is recommended that people seek medical attention.

During the dark years that followed my diving accident, I deviated from my wholesome eating habits. This deviation was partly due to my limited control over my diet, as I lived in a hospital or a group home. It was also due to my reduced health-consciousness. Largely disgusted with life, I was proportionally hedonistic and suicidal. I sought consolation in gustatory pleasure at the risk of undermining my health. To be more precise, I often overindulged my fondness for fatty and savory foods or sweet ones, with the result that I gained weight and lost my edge - that is, part of my vitality. This loss was ominous. It took a wealth of vitality to accept and overcome the difficulty of attaining happiness. The more I was devitalized and consequently weak, the more I was likely to be daunted by this difficulty.

Devitalization was the worst form of impoverishment. In a state of weakness, it was tempting to deny that happiness was possible or worth the effort and choose the easy option: idleness and carelessness or death. I never gave in to this morbid temptation, but my overindulgence in fatty and savory foods or sweet ones caused my vitality to lessen and my depression to worsen, thereby reinforcing my hedonistic and suicidal tendencies. I had entered a vicious circle, or rather a downward spiral that led to hell.

Fortunately, before it was too late, I became disgusted with my way of life, as opposed to life itself. I was less a victim of circumstances than a fool who brought about his own misery, on account of his negative attitude and self-destructive behavior. I began my uphill journey to wisdom and health.

Health is the basis for every human achievement, even when it is poor, in which case it provides a lot less vitality and longevity than when it is good. I pledged to do everything possible to be healthy to maximize my potential to live and love.

In fact, health is not just a matter of vitality and longevity; it is also a matter of sanity. A sound mind is a complement to a sound body. Furthermore, the one is dependent on the other. This dependence had dawned on me with dazzling clarity a few months after I had moved into my apartment and improved my diet. By then I had studied many health books. They had helped me define and meet my nutritional requirements much more wisely.

My body needed a balanced and moderate amount of carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, minerals, and vitamins to function well. Correlatively, the foods containing these nutrients had to be properly chewed to aid digestion and absorption (this did not apply to fiber: a type of carbohydrate that the body can neither digest nor absorb). Proper chewing reduces foods to mush and proportionally increases the effect of the digestive juices on them or the availability of the nutrients that are ready for absorption. I thoroughly performed this simple chore, at the center of life.

To start with, carbohydrates are simple or complex sugars that I generally obtained from fruit, honey, milk products, beets, rutabagas, potatoes, legumes (beans, lentils, or peas), nuts, seeds, whole grains, and the bread, cereal, or pasta made from these grains. Simple sugars and digestible complex sugars serve as an energy source and participate in the synthesis of DNA and RNA molecules: the genetic information and the genetic messengers that enable the organism to regenerate and reproduce. Indigestible complex sugars, better known as dietary fiber, are capable of promoting the elimination of waste through the intestine. Refined foods are depleted of this fiber, without which constipation is a predictable outcome that bodes ill. Except on festive occasions, I resolutely avoided them.

Lipids include two main subdivisions: saturated, monounsaturated, or polyunsaturated fats (with a phosphoric component in some of them - i.e., in phospholipids versus triglycerides that are pure fats) and cholesterol, which is a singular fatty compound. Like simple sugars and digestible complex sugars, saturated fats and monounsaturated fats serve as an energy source. In addition, they contribute to the integrity of the body tissues. Polyunsaturated fats and cholesterol also contribute to this integrity and are used for a variety of vital functions involving the cardiovascular, digestive, endocrine, and immune systems.

A distinctive feature of polyunsaturated fats is their instability. When exposed to heat, light, or air, such as in processing, intense cooking, or prolonged everyday use, they can suffer damage and become harmful. In view of this fact, I was careful to eat the foods that contained them - for example, walnuts and seeds, and the oil extracted from either - in their most natural (unprocessed and if possible uncooked) form and fresh (unspoiled) state. When cooking was necessary, as in the case of fish or tofu, which numbered among these foods, I resorted to steaming or baking in preference to frying and proceeded with caution, while avoiding the pitfall of undercooking. I applied the same basic principles to the foods that contained monounsaturated fats, like peanuts, almonds, olives, and avocado, and the oil extracted from any of them, though these fats are less unstable than their polyunsaturated counterparts. As for cholesterol, found exclusively in animal products, and saturated fats, found mostly in land animal products, they have a reputation for causing arterial blockage and organ dysfunction if consumed without restraint. I limited my intake of them by following a largely vegetarian diet where animal flesh was the exception, not the rule. Actually, I exercised restraint in my consumption of polyunsaturated fats and monounsaturated fats as well. The opposite, like any lack of moderation, is a health hazard.

Now for proteins. They are various macromolecules that comprise a large number of amino acids (nitrogenous molecules that occur in twenty-two different forms). In the course of digestion, these macromolecules are broken down into these molecular components, which act thereafter as raw material or building blocks to produce new molecules or new macromolecules (polypeptides, smaller than proteins, or proteins) that suit our physiological needs in many areas: the metabolism, the blood, the mucous membranes, the skin and the tendons, the muscles, plus the endocrine, immune, and nervous systems. These molecular components act so if the body has enough carbohydrates and fats to satisfy its energy requirements. Otherwise, they are stripped of their nitrogenous part and mobilized into satisfying these requirements. This constitutes a waste of precious amino acids and a burden to the kidneys, in charge of eliminating the free nitrogenous part after the liver has transformed it into urea. As it happened, my main sources of protein - namely, legumes, nuts, whole grains, and the bread, cereal, or pasta made from these grains, together with milk products and eggs - were also rich in carbohydrates or fats. Here the fats that mattered were saturated or monounsaturated, whereas the polyunsaturated ones were not a favorable means of satisfying my energy requirements, given the many other important roles they played.

Lastly, minerals and vitamins are a group of some thirty substances that complement carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins. A deficiency in one of them can hamper a bodily function and jeopardize in so doing the health of an individual. Collectively, as precursors or components of useful agents, or as useful agents themselves, they assist in numerous processes: vision, nerve impulses and neurotransmission, muscle contraction, digestion and absorption, regulation of blood sugar and of the metabolic rate, respiration, energy production, regeneration and reproduction, formation and maintenance of bones and teeth, coagulation, protection against free radicals (noxious atoms or molecules), and immunity. My usual sources of carbohydrates, lipids, and protein already supplied me with minerals and vitamins, all the more since they were unrefined. Refining is a terrible refinement that depletes fibers and nutrients in foods. Nevertheless, to make sure I got enough minerals and vitamins, I rounded off these usual sources with additional vegetables: carrots, radishes, cauliflower, red cabbage, green vegetables, leafy or non-leafy, garlic, and onions. I drank plenty of water to boot, though not during or immediately after meals lest I interfere with my digestion by flooding my stomach. Drinking water typically contains a minute quantity of minerals. Much more importantly, it has the ability to replenish the bodily fluids and cleanse the system of undesirable substances.

The best thing about my improved diet was that in a few months my state of mind had taken a turn for the better in a big way. Never before had I thought so clearly and felt so enterprising. I was brimming with vitality and soon became immersed in the writing of my book on “vital efficiency.” It appeared I was a lot more capable of rationalizing and embracing the challenge of leading a fulfilling life, because I was a lot more alive. My energy level had risen dramatically. I could sleep three hours, rest another two hours, and go about my business for the remaining nineteen hours. In conjunction with this rise, my morale was unusually high. Circumstances alone could not account for this boost. My relationship with my girlfriend (an extremely kind and gentle, and rather pretty nurse) was in the doldrums and on the brink of termination. My new apartment, on the other hand, was a significant improvement; but what changed for the better during the few months in question was primarily the condition of my body, which impacted my state of mind. I was vibrant with health, notwithstanding I still experienced bladder problems that somewhat weakened me on occasion. This health was both physical and mental. I had a vigorous and joyous sense of purpose that kept me going and especially writing.

In the effort to be healthy, a reasonable diet is not everything. Fresh air and regular exercise ought to form part of this effort. There are two types of exercise; both require stretching, before and after, plus warmup and cooldown periods, to avoid injuries.

The first type of exercise is anaerobic, not dependent on the intake of oxygen. An example of anaerobic exercise is weightlifting. Done frequently, in vigorous workouts, it strengthens muscles and bones. The second and most beneficial type of exercise is aerobic, dependent on the intake of oxygen. An example of aerobic exercise is jogging. Done every day or a few times a week, for at least fifteen minutes (enough to markedly and sustainedly increase the activity of the respiratory and cardiovascular systems, responsible for delivering oxygen to the body tissues), it yields numerous health benefits. Besides strengthening muscles and bones, it raises endurance, improves the handling of stress, promotes good mood, boosts the immune function, reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke, and helps to prevent obesity together with disorders like diabetes and hypertension that often accompany this condition. In a nutshell, fresh air and regular exercise are important aspects of a wholesome lifestyle. They result in someone being stronger, feeling better, and probably living longer.

If you own a trucking company, you know that it can be a very profitable business. However, you also know that trucking companies are very cash hungry. You need money to pay for the equipment, to pay your drivers and for fuel. The challenge comes from the fact that freight bills can take up to 60 days to get paid. Unless you have a lot of cash in the bank, this can be a problem.

Speaking of banks, going to your banker for a business loan or line of credit will not help much either. Bankers will only lend money to companies that have a lot of assets, have been in business for three years and can provide audited financial statements. Of course, if you had lots of assets you wouldn’t need a banker.

So, what are your options?

Freight bill factoring, also known as freight factoring, can provide you with immediate financing for your slow paying freight bills. So, if you have quite a few invoices that are paying slowly, factoring can help you.

The factoring arrangement is very simple. The factoring company advances a large portion of the money owed for your freight bills the moment you invoice your customer. They wait to get paid while you get immediate use of the money.

As opposed to bank financing, freight bill factoring is easy to qualify for and available to small and large trucking companies alike. Most factoring companies have two main requirements. The first one is that you work with reliable clients and freight brokers. The second one is that your firm has at least two trucks. It’s easier than a bank, isn’t it?

If you own a trucking company that is growing, be sure to consider freight factoring.

“My soul is in anguish. How long, O Lord, how long?” (Psalm 6:3).

There are many how-longs in the Bible. While Providence smiles, we take no notice; His consolations seem insignificant to none when all is well in our lives. We forget that He gives as well as takes. Then when a cloud slips past the sun, we forget that the sun still exists. Even when it is midnight and we are deep in the dark night of our soul, God still lives. It is we who eclipse Him, not vice versa. And it is a vice to forget this. “As when the sun is eclipsed, though the earth wants the light thereof, yet not the influence thereof; so God’s supporting grace is ever with His deserted” (Trapp).

Complaint should be carried to God and not be of God or anyone else. Because He is the same yesterday when we had joy, today when we have grief, and tomorrow when we have a new kind of joy born of faith in His purposes, then we should trust anyway and always. “This, too, shall pass!” Our God has measured our crosses to our caliber and He has calibrated just what we can bear. He has also appointed the time, and there are times when our disappointment is His appointment.

Even if we carry our cross to our grave, when we arise in our resurrection, blooms of love and elation will be flourishing from that cross, because we were faithful and believed to the end that God will bring good from what is so bad. Sorrows may end here; they most assuredly will end hereafter.

Jesus asked His how longs, too: “O unbelieving and perverse generation…how long shall I stay with you and put up with you?” (Luke 9:41). Surely He felt a “how long” when He hung on the cross for us. We ask our how longs and our how muches; God simply asks us, “How much do you love Me? Is it enough to bear with what I now have for you, no matter how long it may last?”

Nude photography is the genre of art photography, whose subject is the representation of the naked (full nude) or partially naked (half nude) human body.

The aesthetic value of nude photography and its boundary to erotic photography can only be determined with difficulty and inter-subjectively and is also affected by its numerous overlaps with pornography. In consequence, nude photography and erotic photography always find themselves branded in multiple ways, and labelled as works of artistic freedom, aesthetics, kitsch, junk or provocation. The boundaries of nude photography, erotic photography and pornography are so undefined and continuously changing that they are always determined and defined by the subjective moral view of the individual and the generally accepted cultural confines of “customs and tradition”.

Whether the picture itself is art or junk always lies in the eye of the beholder. One (subjective) definition of the worth of a nude photograph is: “A nude photo is then good, when the Model shows it around at the coffee table at her grandmother’s birthday party and receives positive feedback.” (Gnter Rinnhofer) Other definitions have been by far more controversial. For Horst Werner this art form has always been about provocation and evoking of emotions. He prefers disgust, shock and aversion (as evoked for example by his photographs of nudes at a cemetery or of disabled people) to indifference, which in his opinion, is often the only reaction generated by other, more conventional art styles. Additionally, it is nowadays no longer such a taboo to depict the primary sex features of a human being. However, in contrast to pornography, nude photography does not actively pursue to excite the audience, although this does not exclude that it is consumed with this intention and effect.

Tasteful nude photography is often regarded as high skilled photography as besides technical knowledge and the ability to manipulate light the nude photographer also needs strong communication skills and the ability to build a positive relationship with his model. A modelling contract between photographer and model often includes additional remuneration to the model besides payment and publication rights.

Subgenres and Subjets

“Feminine nudity must be given to men by the teaspoonful, not with a scoop.” (Coco Chanel)

Nude photography divides into three basic forms: the “classic” full nude with a simple background, full nude model where model is completely naked; the detailed nude depicting certain details of the body, abstracting and making them anonymous, and emphasising the forms and structures of the nude; and finally the half nude, where the model is partially clothed or partially wrapped with accessories.

History and development

The nude is a classic subject in art. Already the early high cultures (Egypt, Crete, India among others) knew nude representations. Its development into other representation forms can be pursued from Greek clay to the art of the middle ages and on to the European art of the modern age. Since the renaissance, the study of the nude human body is an intrinsic part of art education at art academies.

Since around 1847 the nude has also become the object of photography, the first nude photographers including Philippe Debussy, E. Delacroix, Eugene Durieu and B. Braquehais. Models were both professionals and prostitutes and photographs were both artistic and “spicy”, which often invited the aversion of moral and law enforcement officers.
