My Shiny New Home Alarm Systems

I have been surfing for a home security system for 10 days now and I finally stumbled into a home alarm device that seems to fit my house, my husband and kids and our lifestyle.

We looked through at least 5 different security companies to check the cheapest selection instead of the most expensive choice. I must say, that I was surprised with most of the web sites we looked at but one stood out above the rest and that was www.familyhomesecurity.com. Their security system data was special, eye opening and illuminating. I wish they were a company that established protection systems themselves because I know it would be done smartly and with a lot of care to detail.

What made it a bad experience? Well, we saw a housebreaking 8 days ago that wasn’t very fun. As Luck Would Have It, we were out of town and they only got jewellery and money. Now there are tikes in the home and a plenty more priceless stuff like computing machines, electronics, and above all - family and family memories and photographs. We simply desired to find the foremost home security system that we could all expend and feel good with. It was definitely time to receive one this month.

So, how did we happen the correct home alarm system? We set about by searching ‘home security systems’ on the search engines, then ranged through all of the web sites on the starting page. A plenty of them were trash…and I was sorry about that. Everybody I love says MSN is the fullest…in any event, aft looking over those internet sites we couldn’t determine what we were waiting for.   1. Compile an exhaustive list of the facts about your proposed group.

  2. Extract your pertinent facts from your exhaustive list of facts.

  3. What possibly Profitable Opportunities are presented in the extracted facts?

  4. Create a Short-term strategy from the extracted facts.

  5. Create a Long-term strategy from your exhaustive list of the facts.

How To Get Links Without Asking

Sending out link requests is a time-consuming business. So wouldn’t it be wonderful if other sites linked to you without being asked?

Sound impossible? Well, it can be done and here are ten strategies to prove it. Why not start 2005 by making sure you use them?

In a link building campaign, you have to find target websites in the first place, review them to decide if asking for a link is worthwhile, identify the contact person and send them a customized link request. If you can do all that in 15 minutes per request, you’ll be doing very well. On that timing, you’ll be able to send out 160 requests in a 40 hour week and with a success rate of say 10%, you’ll get 16 links for your efforts.

Perhaps there is a better way to spend those 40 hours.

Sometimes the best way to get links is not to ask for them. That doesn’t mean you should sit back, do nothing and wait for links to appear. Spend time creating content and making your site as attractive and easy to link to as possible. There are lots of things you can do to build your link popularity without sending out link requests.

Here are some suggestions:

1. Make it clear on your own website that you want links - ask for them directly and make it easy for people to link by writing the linking code for them (using keyword phrases in linking text of course). Explain why it will help: “If you’ve found this site useful, please link to us so that others can benefit”.

2. Play an active part in online discussion groups and forums. Not only will you learn, but you’ll become known and will spot the movers and shakers - and if your people post good opinions and helpful advice, people will link to you.

3. Publish a regular newsletter and republish the content on your website. Encourage people to link by asking, “if you’ve enjoyed this newsletter, you can link to the permanent version at (insert URL)”.

4. Publish articles on other websites - ezines, information sites, media sites, even article banks. This works well. You can find site to submit articles to by doing a Google search, e.g. - intitle:”submit an article” business - this produces over 1,000 results. Spend time looking for niche ezines and newsletters that serve your market, scan the type of content they publish and adapt your writing to their style.

5. Create an interactive tool. My favourite of old was ‘The longevity text’. You answered about 20 questions and the tool predicted at what age you would be likely to die. Irresistible - I still remember that my prediction was 83. The test was designed and published by an insurance company - could they have been trying to sell me a pension? A little bit of creativity in thinking about such tools will be time well spent and a good programmer will be able to create a tool in just a few hours.

6. Create great content. (OK, it’s an old trick, but it still works) Just keep publishing great stuff. One of the best at this is search engine marketer and prolific writer Jill Whalen. Her weekly newsletter from http://www.high rankings.com is a model of consistency and genuine value to her many thousands of readers.

7. Submit your website to legitimate award sites. Mike Corso’s Cool Site of the Day, http://www .coolsiteoftheday.com is a must together with any others you can find. You’d be surprised at how high your chances of success are.

8. Praise and link. When you find genuinely useful resources, write a short, complementary review together with a link. Then publish on your website and click on it just to make sure it ends up in your target’s referrer logs. Larry Chase of Web Digest for Marketers publishers a monthly newsletter that reviews about 10 web resources - you’ll find it at http://www.wdfm.com . A few days later he writes to each reviewed site and allows them to quote his comments in return for a link.

9. Become a source of quotes. Provide sharp, useful, timely quotes for the media. You can get yourself known and you’ll find journalists will seek you out. Sign up for services such as http://www.prleads.c om ($99 per month) or the premium priced http://www.sourc ewire.com (£1,200 per annum).

10. Volunteer to become an editor for several directories. You’ll be able to submit reviews of your own sites and you’ll have opportunities to get to know your market better - that inevitably leads to more linking opportunities. Go beyond the obvious - as well as http://www.dmoz.org, try http://www.joeant.com, http://www.skaffe.com and http://www.web-beacon.com.

Sometimes we can get too wrapped up in sending out link requests. Steeping back and thinking of some creative ways to get people to link without being asked will be time well spent.

Hurricanes and Grief Loss

During the 2005 Atlantic tropical hurricane season, which sponsored Hurricane Rita and Hurricane Katrina over 4500 people died along the Gulf Coast of the United States of America. Many of these people who died; their bodies were never recovered. They were washed up by the sea in the incredible storm surge.

Losing a loved one can be very difficult and only time can heal the pain and grieving is often a way to help us relieve the pent up energy and a raw motion that humans feel. If you’ve lost a loved one during a hurricane you know that this is one of those times where those who are grieving could use a little extra help dealing with these tough times.

No one knows for sure how many people will be dying in the 2006 or even the 2007 Atlantic tropical hurricane season; we only know that there will be those who fail to evacuate and listen to the warnings of authorities and get caught in a deadly situation and there will be people who die from Mother Natures Wrath.

Currently, the United States of America does not have the technology to stop a hurricane however, in the next couple of decades we may find ways to lessen their effect and perhaps steer these hurricanes away from populated areas or help dissipate them by allowing the Trade Winds to flow and blow them apart.

Hurricanes are just one devastating event that humans on the planet have to worry about, but when they kill someone we know there is some grief and some pain and it takes its emotional toll on the families. Please consider this and 2006.

Speed up Internet Explorer 6

Internet Explorer 6 has been around for a while and its been a good browser. Since new alternatives like Firefox and Opera have come out we now know that, yes there is faster browsing out there. Internet Explorer can be as fast after trying out a few tips in this article.

Step 1: Default is your friend.

You heard it here first folks. (probably not) Generally setting the browser to its defaults will make it go faster. There are two areas in specific that will make the largest impact. Security settings and the advanced settings. To set these at their defaults go to Internet Explorer. In the browser go to the tools menu and select internet options. In the internet options go to the security tab. In the security tab set all of the zones to default. Then go to the advanced tab. In the advanced tab you will find the restore defaults button at the bottom of the window. Click o it and that’s it. Click on OK and restart your browser.

Step 2: Setting the Number of Connections per Session.

Internet explorer limits the number of connections it opens when you click on a link to open an new web page. Microsoft did this to comply with HTTP 1.1 standards but it also really slows down things when you open a new website and download the sites images. So to change that go to the start menu and select run. In the run command type regedit and click OK to open the registry editor. In the registry editor navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER SoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionInternet Settings. Here change the MaxConnectionsPerServer and MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server to a number you wish. That’s it, once done restart windows and you are all set. Just a note that this will effect all windows applications that use the internet explorer api so if something else is not working right that is why.

Step 3: Keep less and save time.

Windows by default will automatically set your temporary internet files to a certain percentage of your hard drive. If you have a hard drive that is a 200 gigabytes your temporary internet files will be a couple of gigabytes in size. The more files that Internet Explorer has to look through the more time it takes to load a page. To change the size of your temporary internet files goto the tools menu in Internet Explorer and select internet options. In the internet options click on the settings buttons in the temporary internet files. Change the size to the desired amount (I usually use 100MB) and click on OK. Your computer might stall for a little bit if there are a lot of files to delete.
