Fantastic Ski Conditions throughout the French Alps

Filed under: Recreation Resources, Travel Tips — admin @ 7:50 pm

There has been around 2m of snow in the last 7 days. It was so prolonged that skiing lifts were stopped, the funicular has been stopping at Chamonix train station and not heading onwards to Argentiere. Several roads have been closed past our Chamonix chalet and snow warnings issued.

This is in direct contrast to a few winter seasons ago, with the incredibly mild January weather conditions, earth showing on mountainsides, and admonitions that climate change meant the conclusion of snowboarding in the Alps. Indeed the report from 2005 warned that climate change would make ski holidays too costly for a lot of skiers, with one-third of ski towns going bust with the disappearance of alpine glaciers. Experts insist that it’s unimaginable to assign the seasonal deviations in the weather to the off shoots of global warming.

We could be experiencing the biggest recession in 25 years, and the Pound has dropped to more lows compared to the Euro, but the conditions are first-class, and the latest bookings highlight that boarders are enthusiastic to enjoy the superior snow. This season is certainly the finest in nine winters, and a lot of skiers are announcing its the nicest skiing conditions in 10 yrs.

However recollect that big dumps like these mean raised risks of avalanche.
