Don’t Even Think About Affiliate Marketing Until You’ve Read This - Part 1

Filed under: Better Commerce — admin @ 11:31 pm

You’ve probably heard some of the affiliate success stories from across the internet. You’ve also probably heard of the diverse benefits of affiliate marketing… Low start up costs, no products to deliver, no sales pitch to write, EASY! I was the same as you and it was these things that first got me into affiliate marketing. However, it took me a long time and several key distinctions to take my affiliate revenue from average to amazing.

In this article series I will attempt to highlight some of these distinctions in the hope of furthering your affiliate marketing knowledge and assisting in your success. I will attempt to give away as much information as possible without getting into trouble as a lot of what I am about to tell you, people are charging large fees to provide. Here are some of these distinctions.

1. Find A Good Product:

It seems so simple people often overlook this crucial aspect of affiliate marketing. If people are clicking through from your page to your merchants page and they are not being converted… You’ve got a problem. Most good affiliate programs will advertise their products conversion rates to entice potential affiliates. If they don’t do this, ASK! Most affiliate experts recommend you purchase the product for which you wish to be an affiliate so you can sleep easy at night knowing its something you’d be confident to promote. Check your merchants page thoroughly looking at things like the general look and feel, and the perceived effectiveness… If your interested in this product… would YOU buy from this merchant?

2. Be a friend.

From a psychological perspective the reason someone buys something from an affiliate is that the opinion of someone who has used the product (ie already made the decision that the consumer is going to make) strongly confirms the pitch of the seller, and therefore the product is perceived to be more trustworthy. The affiliate should be presented as an average guy/girl who has used the product and knows the market and is different to the ‘big company’ (merchant) that is ‘just out to make the sale’. If your page contains writing, it should introduce the affiliate personally, the tone should be friendly and informal (as you speak), and if possible could give an example of the success the affiliate has had using the product (or some other form of official confirmation of the products worthiness.)

3. Be an affiliate for more than one product BUT…
Obviously the more products you can be an affiliate for the better, but many new affiliates find it difficult to do this without compromising the effectiveness of their affiliate pitches. One great way to do this is to find a niche market that sellf more than one product. Let’s take golf for example (hardly a niche market I know but go with it…) On one part of the site you could talk about the best putters (affiliate link) another part the best golf bags, another the best drivers and so forth. All your affiliate links are in AND if someone buys a putter you’ve recommended are they more or less likely to check out which driver you like too? You will notice however that this section did have a BUT…

An Ab Excercise For Everyone!

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 7:11 pm

I don’t have much of a problem with belly pouch or bulge, since I’ve been doing one ab excercise or another for most of my life to abs flat.

But most of you haven’t done any kind of ab excercise recently or ever in your life so you can benefit by my experience with one particular ab excercise especially.

I know a small ab excercise that can literally whittle your waistline and work your abs at the same time. If you work diligently at this ab excercise, that is.

Here is my ab excercise:
Lie on your back with your knees bent, feet resting on the floor.

Bend your right leg sideways and rest your right ankle on your left knee.

Link your fingers behind your head and situp, twisting your torso as you do, so that your left elbow touches your right knee.

Then lay back down and repeat 20 times. If you’re a beginner at ab exercise you may want to work your way up slowly, starting with five ab excercises everyday and each week adding one more ab excercise on.

Do this ab exercise with both legs, resting your left ankle on your right knee as you repeat the selected amount of crunches.

I took my waist down an inch doing this ab exercise, and I’ve never gone back up. There is no reason why you can’t too!

Believe me. Once you start to apply this you will begin seeing results very soon.

A Few Brief Tips to Deal with Writing Rejection

Filed under: Publishing + More — admin @ 12:17 pm

What to do when you get rejected.

You’ve just finished your book, sent out query letters and was rejected. What’s left to do? You could give up, but I wouldn’t suggest this. Here’s some brief tips on how to deal with rejection.

1.Take a breather

You’ve probably been wondering and rattling your brain as to why you got rejected. Take a break, not a long one…some time for a breather. If you continue to constantly analyze why you were rejected, you’ll drive yourself crazy. Plus…if you decide after rejections to continue sending out new query letters, they may not be your best work. Why you ask? Because you may not produce your best work under all the stress you’ve put yourself under over the rejections. You wouldn’t want more rejections because you didn’t have the energy to send out your best sales pitch.

2.Self-esteem- Failure is not an option

You might be down in the dumps…this is understandable, but don’t allow yourself to be in the mood for too long. Have you had others read your work? Did they like it, love it? It’s a good idea to remember all the positives, rather than negatives. If everyone who didn’t get what they wanted the first time quit, do you know what we’d have? A bunch of failures. They aren’t failures though for not getting it for the first time, rather they are if they quit.

3. Motivation-

Think about your favorite movie, song or book. Now, what if they stopped trying? That favorite song, book or movie wouldn’t exist. If you give up, someone out there won’t have a chance to have your work as a favorite. Think about it.

Remember that rejection doesn’t have to be the end of your journey unless you let it be. Good Luck!

Websites for Businesses

Filed under: World Wide Web Resources — admin @ 10:07 am

Web Site Design

These days if you are in business and don’t have a website you
are missing out on an abundance of customers. Everyone that has
a computer in their house will be using one of the search
engines ( google, Yahoo, Msn etc ) to look for your business.
There are over 20 million searches done every hour on the
internet in the UK alone. If your business is not appearing on
these search engines then you are losing out to your competitors
that are looking for what you do.

You will be asking yourself I have done without a website till
now so why would I need one? It is a good question If you are
currently doing well with your business then that is great but
can anyone turn round and say that they don’t want anymore
business? If you do say that then what happens if your business
starts to lose some customers then you will start to try and get
new business elsewhere. A website is THE way to generate extra
enquiries and more business than any other means of advertising.

More and more people these days are turning to local searches
and with broadband the internet is connected in their house 24
hours a day 7 days a week. In all honesty do you even know where
you keep your yellow pages anymore? There is really no need as
with the internet if you need a plumber in your area goto yahoo
and type in plumber ( your area ) and a list of sites will come
up with plumbers in your area. If you are a plumber how much
would you pay to have your site appearing on those searches
above your competitors? How much would that be worth to you in
business terms?

The answer is easy….. A lot. 5 or 10 years ago that listing in
the yellow pages would mean as much to you as the listings you
get on the search engines today.

A website for your business could be for several different
reasons. You could use your website as a brochure to advertise
the products you offer how much more could you show on your
website compared to an advert in the paper? Instead of having a
few lines in the paper explaining your business you could have
10 or 20 pages outlining what you do and the products you offer
and give a more in depth description of all your products. For
an ad in your local paper for say 3 lines of text would cost you
say £50 for 1 week if you had your own website it would cost say
£250 per year and the website would be online and available to
view 24/7 365 days a year.

You could also use your website to keep your existing customers
in the know on exactly what you are offering. If your existing
customers go onto your website and sign up for your newsletter
everymonth you could email them any product updates you have. If
you don’t have the time to email you could also have a news
section on your website that can be updated on a monthly basis
and that would allow your customers to log into your website and
view any updates since their last visit. New business is good to
develop but your existing customers are already doing business
with you so why not use your website to maximise the sales you
get from your existing customers.

All in all a website for your business is an essential to to
maximise profits for your business. To generate new business and
also to keep your existing customers up-to-date with any changes
or product ranges that they could be interested in. More
business or not the choice is yours.

Cruise Free as a Speaker - Fatal Mistakes to Avoiding in Getting Approved

Filed under: Travel Tips — admin @ 9:55 am

Being an approved cruise enrichment lecturer is the greatest gig
on the seven seas. The deal is simple: you furnish the cruise
lines three or four 1-hour lectures on subjects you love and you
get a free cruise for yourself and a companion.
The best
part is the lectures are usually scheduled on sea days so you’ll
have every port day totally free to explore. Further, you cruise
as a passenger (not a crew member) so you’ll get every other
passenger perk, too. Although it is relatively easy for anyone
willing to try there are some pitfalls to becoming an approved
cruise lecturer. Here are the things you should watch out for:

1. You don’t do your homework. Learn which cruise lines have
enrichment lecturer programs and what topics they generally
seek. The cruise lines will know if you aren’t asking intelligent
questions. You’ll only be able to sound intelligent about their
programs if you’ve done your homework. Being labeled as an
amateur because you have not done the required up front work
will be the kiss of death to your application.

2.You don’t pick “good fit” topics. The lecture topics you pick
mustsucceed on two fronts. First, they must fit what the cruise
lines seek.Second, you must be passionate and knowledgeable
about them. This is easier than at first it may sound. From your
homework you’ll learn what types of lecture programs the cruise
lines like to have onboard. Onceyou have done that, find topics
within your personal knowledge base thatmatch what’s popular on
the cruise lines. You may have to make a list but EVERYONE has
at least two or three topic areas in which they have
proficiency, if not expertise. However, if your topics are all
wrong,you’ll fail before you start.

3. You don’t’ make a professional, cogent presentation to the
cruise lines. You’ll need to sell yourself and your lectures to
the cruise line. Take the time to do it right. Be prepared to
talk about how the lecture(s) fit within the cruise line’s
format. Why passengers will like the lectures and why you’re
qualified to talk about it. Get to the point. If you botch this
initial communication with the cruise line they won’t have much
faith that you can communicate in front of an audience of their
passengers. Consequently, you may not get the chance.

4. You send an unpersuasive “lecture packet.” If you have done a
good job with the initial contact, the cruise line will want you
to follow-up with more information about yourself and your
lecture. Think about this information as a mini-press kit that
may contain a video or audio of your lecture. Your lecture
packet must continue-the-sale that you started with the initial
contact… if it doesn’t you’re in trouble.

5. You’re not flexible. You are trying to get your foot in the
door. It will pay to be as flexible as possible with the cruise
line about when you can cruise. Remember, you are there to help
the cruise line entertain/ educate its guests. If you limit the
time you can cruise to a specific week of the year, you may
never set sail. Show as much flexibility as your schedule will
allow and you’ll dramatically increase yours odds of getting
approved.

6. You don’t educate yourself in the process of getting
approved. Learn all you can about how to be approved as a
lecturer. Not only will it streamline and take the guesswork out
of the process but also dramatically increase your odds of
success. Start by checking out http://www.SpeakersCruis

Hook Me Up With A Human

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 3:02 am

Oh, what has happened to the carbon-based organizational interface? Many organizations have digitized humans - aka carbon-based units - out of existence in their customer service operations. Now, I love digital technology as much as anyone, but it is time to bring the people back into their appropriate customer service roles, don’t you think?

Have you ever tried to reach a human at Amazon.com? When I last checked you couldn’t even find a telephone number on the website. Just to annoy them, here is their toll free number: 800-201-7575.

Many organizations don’t even have a live person answering phones. They dump you directly into voicemail. If this happens to you, punch “0″ immediately. Some systems are programmed to ignore the first three “0s” so keep punching. This almost always gets you to a sentient being. OK, sentient may be a little strong. At least they are breathing. Sometimes if you hit the * key, you’ll be sent to the company directory.

The Society of Consumer Affairs Professionals in Business reports that in a recent survey of 1,000 people about customer service “can’t find a human” was at the top of the list of things participants disliked. The study further showed that calling a toll free number was still the preferred method of reaching a company, but more people are turning to the web because no one appears to be home at the phone.

The society has published an online directory containing a lot of contact information for many top companies. Here is the link: http://www.consumeraction.gov/corpormain.shtml. Use it frequently.

Here are a few other tips for hunting down a human. Try using the Whois directory at http://www.networksolutions.com/en_US/whois/index.jhtml. However, truly cunning companies have removed their contact information from there, too.

Companies which continue to shirk their responsibility to their customers eventually will pay. Customer retention rates will spiral downward and new business will dry up. At least, I keep telling myself this will happen to these bad PR poster children.

If you call me, unless I’m on fire or talking with a client, I’ll answer my phone. And, if I somehow miss your call, it won’t take me 24 hours to get back to you. It’s bad PR - and inhuman - to do anything less.

How To Avoid Scam Artist When Donating To Katrina Relief Eff

Filed under: Activists — admin @ 2:13 am

The pictures and videos of the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina are sadly stunning. As is true for our great nation, millions are lining up to donate to help those that have been impacted. While your actions are a shining example of the best traits of people, a few unsavory groups are trying to make a profit off of the tragedy.

Scam Artists

You can avoid these scam artists by taking a few simple steps. Charitable organizations rely on tax-deductible contributions as their primary funding source. Before an organization can offer the benefit of a tax deduction for donations, it must be classified as such by the Internal Revenue Service. The process is arduous and effectively acts as an informal investigation of the legitimacy of the charitable organization in question. Fortunately, the IRS makes this information available to the public.

You can check the legitimacy of a charitable organization by either contacting the IRS or accessing the agency list of charitable organizations on the Internet as follows:

IRS Customer Service: 1-800-829-1040

http://apps.irs.gov/app/pub78

The above link goes to a page where you can conduct a publication 78 search. Publication 78 is a list of all charitable organizations that have qualified for tax-exempt status with the IRS. Scam artist and unsavory characters are not going to be listed with the IRS. If the organization you are considering does not appear in Publication 78, you may wish to consider another organization.

E-mail Scams

You should be cautious if you receive an e-mail requesting money for the relief effort. The e-mail may not be from a legitimate organization. Fraudulent e-mail campaigns are at an unbelievable level. If you are determined to make a contribution because of an e-mail you received, make sure that you check out the organization with the IRS as indicated above.

Unfortunately, there is a second problem with responding to an e-mail solicitation for monetary donations. Assume that you regularly make donations to a large charity organization and you receive a request for a donation from that organization to help with the tragedy in New Orleans and beyond. You can safely click the link in the email and make a donation, correct? Maybe not. There is still a risk that the email is a scam. Many online businesses have ongoing problems with scam artists copying their sites, logos, headings, etc., and sending e-mail solicitations to scam individuals. There is no reason to believe that charitable organizations would be any less of a target, so be careful.

If you still are compelled to respond to an email solicitation with a donation, you should use a search engine to search for the organization listed in the email. Once you click on to the site, you can make a donation in confidence.

The devastation cause by Katrina is there for all to see. By following the above recommendations, you can make sure your donation gets to the people in need.

Management: Leadership And The Use Of Fear As A Motivator

Filed under: Internet Management — admin @ 1:28 am

There are many organizations that still subscribe to the belief that fear is the best motivator for its employees and that it creates a more robust and competitive entity in the market place.

As an executive coach and psychiatrist for over 20 years I wish to dispel this destructive myth once and for all here.

What is the true benefit to an organization of using fear as a motivator?

Well let me count the ways:

1. It creates increased emotional & physical stress for employees.

2. This leads to accelerated turnover and burnout of high caliber individuals.

3. This leads to a major reduction in creativity and overall performance.

4. It leads to employee dissatisfaction and greater resistance to management directives from above.

5. This leads to greater management-employee conflict.

6. This siphons off creative energy meant to produce revenues into wasteful intra-organizational conflicts that make the organization weak, ineffective, vulnerable and less able to survive.

7. Oh yes, last but not least, it leads to an escalation in operating costs through , poor performance, sick leave, health & insurance plans payments, retraining, and other inefficiencies.

So with all these benefits why would any manager not want to employ fear as a motivator?

Well in fact it is usually the manager’s “fear” that is motivating such a choice in the first place. So you see there are serious risks that can literally bring an organization to its knees with such a strategy.

There is a better way!

It entails each individual working from a place of passion, purpose, creativity, energy, joy, desire, freedom, health, enthusiasm and so on.

Unfortunately most organizations are still too afraid to allow such a positive and resilient atmosphere from living within their walls.

The fear is, there’s that word again, that nothing would get done, correct?

Well have it your way then.

If you do see the logic in this argument and would like to build a truly resilient organization kindly contact me at the web link below.
